Statewide BItumen Brisbane is the only company in Australia that can offer you a coloured bitumen sprayseal that can be made to look like a natural gravel path that will never wash away.
This surface is widely used in heritage listed properties, bush walkways cycle tracks and private driveways. SEAL-O-FLEX 205 really is a special product.

The unique system pioneered by Ron Vanderhoff from Bushmates Coloured Bitumen is labour intensive and incorporates many custom built machines never seen before. The results are hard to explain, perfectly imperfect, perfectly natural.

To understand the cost comparisons from standard bitumen to SEAL-O-FLEX 205 here is a summary for the coloured bitumen sprayseal process.

  • SEAL-O-FLEX 205 is imported from Holland in 205L drums, mainly because coloured jobs are small and the product cant be reheated to often so small storage is required.

  • Drums are loaded one at a time into custom built drum decanter (melter) that will hold 3000 Litres when full. One full load from cold to mixing temperature will usually take 24 hrs.

  • The product is then pumped into a storage / circulating tank 1200L at a time.

  • A small quantity of SEAL-O-FLEX 205 is then pumped into a high speed mixer where about 2 percent natural rock pigment is added and mixed for 15 minutes to form a concentrated batch of coloured bitumen. This is then sucked back into the circulation tank and circulated for 1 hour.

  • Finally the finished product is ready to be pumped into our Road Sprayers which must to be completely clean of black bitumen or it will contaminate the colour and turn it grey.
1 litre of black bitumen will ruin 2000 L of colour ).  SEAL-O-FLEX 205 is also 5 times the cost of standard bitumen before we mix the colour in so contaminiation is a big issue.

  • Once the road sprayer is full or has the correct quantity required the remainder of the coloured bitumen is put back into 205 L drums and stored for later use or transport.

  • Pre mixed drums can than be sent to remote locations but must still accompany a decanter for re melting.

  • Base preparation / Primerseal / 10mm black bitumen seal and then the SEAL-O-FLEX 205 is applied at between 190 and 205 degrees C and covered with matching 5-7 mm aggregate. The surface is then rolled extensively to minimise loose aggregate on completion.

We have tried to simply the process in an effort to reduce cost to the customer but at present we have been unable to improve the process.

It may be more expensive than standard bitumen but it will last twice as long and looks 10 times as good.

We Deliver Results

2-in1 Sprayseal is where bitumen and aggregate are spread together.
Dry and dusty aggregates are not affected as the aggregate falls immediately into liquid binder.
The use of spreader boxes mounted higher than usual spreaders allow the aggregate to reach the binder before the dust particles in the aggregate and eliminates the need for precoated aggregates
